The inspiration and project started with nine barstools that we did not use anymore. I decided to attach three barstools to each other to create three small benches. The legs were cut shorter, and the wood was treated with white wood stain and painted with enamel paint.
I bought three tables from our local pawn shop and our handyman continued with the tiling. Another six- to eight-seater table was also tiled. A friend made cushions for the seating areas.
We bought the JoJo tank from friends who moved to another province. It was also painted white and modernised with vinyl stickers. We use the rainwater to fill our swimming pool.
The braai was built in by the same contractor who did the tiling.
My husband made the spice cupboard, and I did most of the paint work. We moved the grass from the lapa, changed the structure and had shade netting made for a lighter and safer braai area.
