The house was built in the 1980s and the kitchen was never altered. It was something I really wanted to do but it was always out of my budget.
I decided that I would try and do a lot of the work myself and only employ a contractor for specific sections. I looked for the most affordable options with regard to flooring and cupboards. Where I could use a labourer or do things myself to cut costs, I did.
Taking the old kitchen cupboards out was a mission as the kitchen counter was built as a unit and had to be sawn into sections to get it out. The floor tiles had been stuck down with cement and took a labourer three days to chop out!
The finished result has completely changed the feel of the house, allowing a free flow. It is now light, airy and modern.
