We moved to Thesen Islands in Knysna at the beginning of 2022. Although our new home was beautifully positioned right on the water, it had dated fittings and finishes that didn’t reflect the serenity and laid-back vibe of island living at all. We set about renovating the house, space by space, for the better part of a year. Some minor structural changes were made to open up the magnificent canal views and flood the house with as much natural light as possible. The bulk of the renovation was largely cosmetic and with the help of a fresh island-style colour palette and lots of coastal-inspired details, we transformed our new home from dark and dreary to bright and breezy!
Renovating is definitely not for sissies, but the gorgeous end results were definitely worth the proverbial blood, sweat and tears. We are absolutely thrilled with our dreamy waterfront home and all the natural beauty that surrounds us in this special place.
