We bought the property in November 2016 and we have slowly renovated the main house as finances allowed, together with the availability of a reputable, honest builder. We definitely had our fingers burnt doing this. We had the house gutted, only leaving the boundary walls. We had reclaimed parquet flooring installed and used slate on the patio around the pool and fire pit. I hunted for any antique doors and windows with stained glass and have used antiques for my kitchen cupboards etc. My vision began as a Karen Blixen romantic farmhouse… It has morphed into an eclectic artistic expression of all the genres I love, often having to improvise on my love for certain styles with an artist’s interpretation due to what we can afford at the time. Much of what we have installed was bought on Facebook Marketplace; I transported everything 300km from Durban on a 4m trailer.
