We have decided to redo the main bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. We did all the work ourselves, except for the tiling in the bathroom.
We first started with the bathroom and completed everything. I was dreaming one evening about a walk-in shower which I clearly remember on business trips and just thought, why not, we can do it.
We’ve modernised it and got rid of the cupboards and enjoyed the open-shelf idea.
To finish it off, we looked for a specific light black iron frame with a romantic light to round off the bathroom.

Then we started dreaming up a romantic picture for our main bedroom. As the picture unfolded, we started creating our dream room.
I saw a picture of Calibre on a wall and just knew this is what I want. Speaking to Hybrie, she explained to me how to go about painting the wall with the clay paint. I chose the Savanna colour, which I absolutely love. Leon helped me with the plaster technique on the wall and I helped him with the laying of the laminated floors.
Then we started with the fluted boards on the sides. I also repainted my bed set and stencilled the headboard. It was the first time in my life doing any stencil work.
We were excited like children being busy with this project, and when it came to bed lights, we knew we needed something specific that would finish off our picture. I’ve even repainted the lights to fit the colour scheme. I’ve replaced the handles on the drawers and dressing table. I also repainted the dressing table to fit in with the theme. We wanted to lighten up the room, so I made new curtains for the room.
We are very proud as we did almost everything by ourselves.
