When we found out we were expecting a little bundle of joy, we started to look at ideas for the room. We were fortunate to find out the gender of the baby quite early, and was able to put ideas together of what we envisioned.

Pinterest was our best friend! We were able to realise our dream baby room with some hard work, research, trial-and-error, and also using all the leftover paint, wood and other supplies we had in the garage. Overall, we didn’t have to spend much on this dream project.

The mural was painted by myself, using paint left from other projects around the house and inspired by pictures from the internet. A lot of mixing and matching was done to get the perfect palette.
The floor was originally covered in carpet, and we decided to do a self-levelling screed floor as the cheapest option, as well as fitting in with the general theme and idea we had in mind.
I designed and built the cot, had it cut and sprayed at the factory where I work.
The closet doors were old and outdated, and by using some MDF slats, a new coat of paint and new handles, it has a much more modern look and feel.
To cover up the old windowsill, I sanded and varnished some pallet-wood.
The rocking chair was passed on to us from family, and also received a new coat of paint.
Built a side table with some MDF offcuts, and gave it a coat of brown varnish.
Installed a new wall light and dimmer switch.
