Justin and I transformed our open-plan bedroom and bathroom to prioritise privacy and functionality.
We built a drywall to enclose the previously open bathroom, providing a secluded space. The outdated white tiles were removed, and the shower was replaced. We installed a wooden window in the new drywall, giving the bathroom a modern yet cosy feel. The entire bathroom makeover was cost-effective.
In the bedroom, we refreshed the walls with a new coat of paint and added another layer of cement to the floors for a polished yet rough/earthy look. For added warmth during cold winters, we installed a Queen Ann stove on its own little halfmoon pedestal.
Additionally, we incorporated a brand-new compact yet fully equipped kitchenette featuring a fridge, gas stove, microwave, kettle and cupboards, along with its own entrance. This transformation has turned the space into a self-catering unit, perfect for accommodating guests during busy periods at our business and events held at de Oude Fabreeck.
We opted for a natural colour palette, with some anthracite roof paint accent walls, and then the rough cement walls and floors, which we sealed with Woodoc 45 to stick with the earthy feel. We also incorporated a lot of plants, especially in the bathroom, to soften the harshness of the cement look.
We love the new space and enjoy seeing our guests appreciate it as much as we do!
