Welcome to our secluded home on the hill.

This house was a dream we had in the back of our minds, believing that one day it would be a reality. The time eventually arrived, and our ideas on paper came to life.

The idea was to have a space we can enjoy in every way possible.

The challenge was to find a builder who could make our dream come true – our dream was to upcycle many items in this build. Items from light switches and toilets to light fittings and storage were sourced all over South Africa.

The idea was to create a home that becomes a talking point for every item that meets your eye.

We introduced a back-to-back braai to ensure that we have the best of summer and winter.

Our lavatories are an experience and something you might relate to, depending on the year you were born. Ha-ha! It’s something you can experience and smile about if you get it wrong.

The light switches will take you back to a place where you can really feel the excitement when you use them. The high thatched roof with exposed beams gives you a real feeling that you are in a safari lodge.

I am also fascinated by enamel. It is a passion I have, so your eye will catch a collection or two.

The wall effects were done by an amazing interior decorator and close friend of ours. The effects she created amazed me.

The view offers one of the best ways to take a moment, especially 20 minutes before the sun goes to rest. The views are never the same; they just leave you in awe.
