This beach house was built by the owners 23 years ago on a low budget. The famous location was the only thing that mattered 23 years ago. Old police station doors were refurnished by the owners and most of the cupboards and the staircase leading to the first level was built by the owners.

Last year, the house was renovated by extending the two old downstairs bathrooms and adding old oak beams to the downstairs living room. The upstairs living room was revamped by screeding an existing wall and adding lots of art by local artists from the Southern Cape.

Despite the budget constraints, the owners managed to hire local contractors from Oudtshoorn, who commuted daily to Mossel Bay for the renovation work. Additionally, they employed a local handyman to renovate the old floor beams, which were then added to the downstairs living room.

The renovation project aimed to not only provide a pleasant space for the family to enjoy but also to attract guests who can rent the beach house for a holiday. Overall, the house underwent significant improvements while preserving its unique charm and maintaining its role as both a family retreat and a desirable vacation rental.
