My husband and I bought a very old farm style house on the outskirts of Fort Beaufort that still needs a lot of TLC. The main bathroom is huge, with cast iron bath, toilet and basin in a bad condition and very outdated plumbing.
We needed a bathroom to that would suit our needs as a family of four adults and also a space for laundry and ironing.
A friend, who was also the plumber, suggested that we divide the bathroom in two, so that’s what we did. Everyone pitched in and helped with the striping and removing of tiles, bath, basin, plumbing etc. We even recycled some of the old tiles for the laundry section.
We got the assistance of a builder and tiler to do building of a wall and shower area and tiling. Our son got into the idea of making a barn door. Another friend that does carpentry gave laundry cupboard that was dissembled at another project of his.
We just love these new spaces in our house.
