My husband Roelof and I bought our house a couple of years ago and have done 90% of the renovations ourselves.
We fell in love with the natural rock in the living areas.
There was a toilet right in the middle of the living area, right next to the kitchen, which was super weird!
My husband broke out the toilet and turned it into a beautiful little wine cellar, which now forms part of the “kuier” area in-between our dining room and kitchen.
We utilised a contractor only to replace the Winblox and install new windows.
All plaster work and painting was done by Roelof.
1. New windows.
2. Toilet replaced by wine cellar. Roelof made the wine rack – each hole for the wine bottles was handmade by him. The wine glass rack was also made by Roelof.
3. He also made the modern and funky light fitting in the wine cellar.
4. We bought red loungers to go with the dining room chairs.
5. We made a cosy corner by purchasing new cushions.
6. We painted the walls charcoal to offset the beautiful painting that was a gift from my sister.
