I’ve always been fascinated by this little old “bywoners-huisie” on our farm, and after years of daydreaming about fixing it up, we decided to tackle it head-on in January 2023. What we thought would be an easy six-ish-week project turned into an almost six-months project! Despite our lack of experience, and the frustrations along the way, we are so proud and happy to finally see it come to life. This house was built over a hundred years ago, and back then it was used as a “bywoners-huisie” and later a “voormanshuisie”, but for the past 30+ years it was just a dust-collecting toolshed.
With the help of friends, neighbours and farmworkers, we turned it into a two-bedroom, two-bathroom house with a kitchen, living room and stoep with the most amazing sunset view!
It’s not quite done yet, as we’ll have to wait until spring to start landscaping. But we do hope you see the transformation and consider our little house for your competition.
