I bought a house in late November 2022. It was what I wanted in terms of space and location.
The kitchen was a normal size and there is a huge lounge. I’ve been living in the location where we have tiny rooms, so it has been my dream to have a big house with an open plan. I chose to use my savings for renovations, instead of purchasing furniture, and I must say that it was the best decision.
I used two builders who weren’t part of a construction company, and I wouldn’t advise anyone to do that as I was left with a huge crack that I had to fix.
We did some jobs like painting cupboards and finishing with my neighbour (brother).
PICTURE 1 and 2
I demolished the wall between the kitchen and lounge to create an open plan. (NB: Don’t use inexperienced builders to do this; the wall cracked during this process).
PICTURE 3 and 4
After cleaning up demolished wall.
PICTURE 5
Cracked wall after wall demolition and removal of door frame.
PICTURE 6
Previous door to the lounge. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take a picture before removal.
