A complete home renovation was a dream come true and an absolute blessing from our Heavenly Father. DIY would have been my ideal category but due to a debilitating nervous system condition after contracting covid, someone else had to put in the hard yards.

The renovation was mostly cosmetic. There are new floors throughout, new bathrooms, a new kitchen and scullery, new paint throughout, new doors, new main bedroom cupboards and aluminium windows with a sliding door. We extended the lounge/dining area onto the original balcony and built a new wooden deck. The main en suite was converted into a walk-in robe and a room adjacent to the main bedroom was converted into the en suite. The original kitchen and dining room were made into one large kitchen.

As this is an old split-level house, open plan was a challenge. So, we made it an open plan with a twist, creating an opening from the new lounge/dining area to the kitchen (which is on a lower level) divided by a glass balustrade to present the more open flow and feeling. I did the new design work throughout, and labour was done by a contractor. I also designed the kitchen, and my design was beautifully executed by Deon and his team at Premier Kitchens. He also made my en-suite vanity and main suite cupboards.

This was tremendous fun, and I hope to do it again in the future, but for now we are loving life in our bespoke home. Thank you for the opportunity to enter this competition. Blessings, Rey.
