After we bought this 12-year-old property in Somerset West, we semigrated from Gauteng to the Western Cape.
We changed the colour of the house from a pale custard-yellow to a beautiful calm grey-green and then we embarked on a journey to shape our home around our new lifestyle.
We felt that the existing uncovered patio was impractical in these weather conditions and like any truly South African male, my husband was in desperate need of a braai area. Our project was mostly done by contractors but also included some DIY in the braai area.
Our old patio is now our newly renovated under cover open patio with a braai overlooking the beautiful stream that runs past our house in the estate. And my husband has a second outdoor braai in the new courtyard area (mancave) next to the patio. This patio renovation has transformed our living space, and we are now able to entertain family and friends on our patio in the beautiful Western Cape.
