We bought this run-down property in 2018 and decided to convert an outbuilding into luxury accommodation. I planned and project managed the entire build with a small team of three; one main builder who did all the work with two additional helpers.

We used part of the existing building but removed the entire roof and trusses to raise and add clerestory windows for light. The lounge is new, as are the bathrooms and veranda. We wanted to keep the country style, so we used poles for the roof support and Cretestone on the walls. We also have an outdoor shower off the bathroom.

This project was completed over time and as we had the finances to do so; I honestly have no idea of the costs. We did do a lot of the work ourselves, such as all the cabinetry in the kitchen as well as all the fittings.

The project was on hold during Covid and only completed much later.

We also used some recycled window and door frames bought at auction, as well as a few other items.
