When my husband and I purchased our three-bedroom house during 2022, the only access to the main bedroom was through one of the other bedrooms. My son’s bedroom was quite a large room, so we decided to build a passage through his bedroom to get access to the main bedroom.
During the course of this project the following was attended to:
– One of the walls in the room was covered with a cork-type tile, which we removed
ourselves. This was quite a difficult task and we had to use chisels to remove the tiles. The whole family (including our kids) assisted with this.
– A passage was built with access to my son’s bedroom and the main bedroom.
– The ceiling fan was replaced with downlighters, which made a huge difference to the whole ‘feel’ of the room; downlighters were also installed in the newly built passage.
– We repainted the room (partially by contractors and partially by me and the kids).
– We removed the carpet (together with 20 years of dust) and replaced the floor (which was partly covered by parquet and partly concrete) with vinyl flooring.
